What is a Doula?

As a doula, I am a trained, non-medical professional who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support to you before, during, and after the birthday!  I will help you feel informed, empowered, and supported by offering reassurance, comfort measures, evidence-based information, and advocacy that aligns with your preferences. While I don’t perform clinical tasks or replace medical providers, I will work for you alongside your care team to support your overall experience, well-being, and sense of empowerment throughout your journey into parenthood!

More about me!

Hi, my name is Rebecca, The Honey Bee Doula! I decided I wanted to go into birth work in high school, I knew I had a passion for reproductive health and wanted to work somewhere in the birth world. As I explored my options I learned about doula work and knew right away it was what I wanted to do. I enrolled in Pacific Rim’s holistic doula certificate program and loved every bit of my training! I feel incredibly honoured every time I am invited into the birth space to empower, support, educate and bring peace to such an important moment. I love getting to support every type of birth whether it be in the comfort of your own home, in the hospital, with an epidural or in the OR I am there cheering you on and holding space for every emotion.

Birth is a rite of passage of women. Their journey should be honoured, their rights should be fiercely protected, and their stories should be shared. - Marcie Macari

A bit about my training!

In 2025 I decided to jump in and enroll in Pacific Rim’s holistic doula certificate program. Throughout my training I fell in love with the world of doula work and knew that it was what I had wanted for so long. In my course I had the opportunity to learn from many experienced doulas, Midwives, and birth workers in between. I got invaluable hands-on training including anatomy and physiology of pregnancy, birth and postpartum, feeding support, herbal medicine and nutrition support. Since completing my training I have gone on to work with a mentor to further expand my experience and education. I am always expanding my knowledge through reading, attending workshops, researching and learning from every client I work with.
